For me, it was being told that extreme period pain was “normal.” I was having cramps so severe that I would miss school/work and rely on strong painkillers just to get through the day. For years I was told I was overreacting or that it was just part of having periods. Later I found out it was endometriosis. Looking back, pain that disrupts your life like that isn’t normal, but many of us are made to believe it is.
